April 23 Election Covenant Signing in Lanao del Sur

NAMFREL executive assigned in a quick count transmission from Lanao del Sur in the 2004 and 2007 national elections join local peace group in setting a model municipality for the 2013 elections.

Salman Ranaw, CEO at the Media Resource Center in Marawi City dares Covenant convenors to roll down the mechanism of peace that begins with the prevention of "vote-buying " using media exposure.

With the systematic role of key agencies and stakeholders in the portrayal of positive values and strict enforcement of the law, candidates and interest parties will be compelled to divert resources in fair and legal campaigning and thus reducing the cause of violence.

A covenant signing on April 23 in the Municipal hall of Balindong this province will signify strong adherence of stakeholders to the cause.

Proponent, the Bolayoka, Inc., is in a project  partnership with the Asia Foundation for a campaign that call as PREVAILS, an accronym for “Preventing Reoccurrences of Election Violence thru Alliance Initiatives in Lanao del Sur.”

Joining the Covenant are COMELEC, The Asia Foundation, MILF, 103 Harribon Brigade of the AFP, 51st InfanfryBattalion, PNP-Provincial Office, Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH), International Monitoring Team, Non-Violent Peace Force, Election Observers, Media, and Ranao Coalition for Synergetic Reform.
